Natural Stone
With Custom Stone Interiors you can choose from 5 natural stones:
Valued for its near-diamond hardness, granite makes an ideal
material for kitchen and bathroom countertops. The stone shrugs
off the daily abuses of spills, dings, and knife scratches, not
to mention scalding hot pots or burning cigarettes.

Soapstone has been in use for countertops since colonial times.
It is a metamorphic stone with a soft, warm feel that is resistant
to chemicals, acid, water, and heat. It does not polish to the
highly reflective surface characteristic of marble and granite.
Light sanding will remove most scratches. After treating with
mineral oil the color deepens to a rich, veined, charcoal gray.
Sinks, including custom designs fabricated of soapstone, are available.

Slate is another material whose use in interior stone applications
dates back to colonial times. High quality slate will not stain,
fade or delaminate. Slates are almost completely non-absorbent
and unlike most natural stones do not require sealing. Typical
finish is a honed finish that has a matte, non-shiny appearance.
Slate is not a glossy material.

Marble is a material whose natural beauty and durability has made
it a highly desirable material for building applications for
thousands of years. Marble has a distinctive beauty that is
unmatched. Overall marble is a softer and more porous material
that most other natural stones making it less suitable for high
wear applications like kitchen countertops. However, it is used
frequently in less demanding applications like vanity tops,
fireplaces, and furniture tops.

Limestone is a softer stone used primarily for fireplaces.
It frequently has voids which are either filled with epoxy
or left untreated giving the stone a rustic appearance.
